My first experience with body wrapping was in 2005 on a cruise to the Caribbean. For some reason we feel compelled to spend hundreds of dollars on our vacations and I never use spa services until then. A list of cruise ship spa services included the detox body wrap that promised to take inches off the entire body by cleaning out built up toxins.
A a natural skin and supplement advocate, and being bloated as usual on my trip, I thought I would give it a try. Hey, what’s $199 when you have the potential to look hot in your bikini several hours after the treatment?
After wrapping you in bandages doused with an herbal concoction and hooked up to these electrode things, the experience was far from relaxing. On top of that, these spa technicians are trained to sell and boy are they good at making you feel uncomfortable.
Needless to say, after the unwrapping process, you could see the water just pouring off of my body. Whether or not this particular body wrap eliminated water or eliminated toxins didn’t matter because after measuring my waist, thighs, arms and chest, I had lost quite a few inches, the most important being my bloated belly.
My 12 year old daughter was amazed the next morning when I put on my bikini and had a flat stomach. Did body wrapping work? You betcha! Did it last? Hard to say. After a long week of eating, boozing and late nights, a fat belly is inevitable.
